You can use any digitial camera to take pictures. However, the "Direct-to-LockStep" connectivity that automatically transfers a picture to the current text step only works with the listed Nikon D series cameras . For non-Nikon D-series cameras, you add pictures to work instructions using drag-and-drop which is still easy

LockStep is a single-user desktop work instruction solution and, as such, instructions from multiple authors are stored separately. However, the Sequence Enterprise edition is networked and allows for fully collaborative authoring. LockStep can be upgraded to the Enterprise edition at any time and data consolidated.

All of the data that you need to maintain a complete backup of your work instructions is contained within the LockStep folder. This folder simply needs to be included in the daily backup plan for your PC.
