  • Do I have to do any formatting of instructions in LockStep?

    No. One of the most powerful features of LockStep is the speed and simplicity with which you can create visual work instructions in several industry standard work formats.  For details, see the LockStep deployment options page .
     
  • Can I use any digital camera to add pictures real-time?

    You can use any digitial camera to take pictures. However, the "Direct-to-LockStep" connectivity that automatically transfers a picture to the current text step only works with the listed Nikon D series cameras . For non-Nikon D-series cameras, you add pictures to work instructions using drag-and-drop which is still easy

     

     
  • Can I combine multiple LockStep databases when upgrading to Sequence Enterprise?

    Yes.  Our support team has the ability to merge all of your LockStep databases into a single, collaborative enterprise database when you upgrade from LockStep to Sequence Enterprise.
     
  • Explain the valid combination of objects in LockStep?

     

    Work instructions are constructed by first creating a "parent" then building it up with "children." The valid combinations are as follows:

  • Does LockStep integrate with MRP systems?

    LockStep is a single user, desktop version of FFD's work instruction software that does not offer connectivity to other business systems.  If you need ERP / MRP integration you should consider Sequence Enterprise. Click here for information on the Enterprise edition.

     

     
  • How does LockStep differ from the Sequence Enterprise edition?

    Sequence Enterprise edition contains more features such as:

    • Integration to MRP/ERP/PLM systems for BOMs, Routings, and Work Orders
    • Collaboration between multiple authors of work instructions
    • Paperless deployment to the shop floor
    • Notes,
    • File links,
    • Nesting of global documents,
    • Text tags,
    • Context materials also known as BOMS by operation,
    • Data collection from the shop floor

  • Is LockStep a network application where multiple authors can collaborate?

    LockStep is a single-user desktop work instruction solution and, as such, instructions from multiple authors are stored separately. However, the Sequence Enterprise edition is networked and allows for fully collaborative authoring.  LockStep can be upgraded to the Enterprise edition at any time and data consolidated.

     

     
  • How do I backup my work instructions so I don't lose them?

    All of the data that you need to maintain a complete backup of your work instructions is contained within the LockStep folder.  This folder simply needs to be included in the daily backup plan for your PC.
