11.03.2008 Hayward Pool Products selects FFD Inc.’s Sequence Software as corporate solution
Knoxville, TN – Barry Lucas, President and CEO of FFD, announced today that Hayward Pool Products® (www.haywardnet.com) is implementing Sequence Work Instruction Software (www.sequencesoftware.com) in support of their corporate lean manufacturing initiative.
The Sequence implementation at Hayward started nearly two years ago with an implementation at Goldline Controls®, a Hayward company. The rollout is continuing with Hayward plants in Nashville, TN; Clemmons, SC; and Pomona, CA.
According to Randy Hansen, the Continuous Improvement Coordinator at the Nashville facility,, “One key part of Hayward’s Lean Journey is to have all of the manufacturing facilities developing Standard Work in the same format. Sequence Software will provide the vehicle to make this possible.” This consistency has already paid dividends at Goldline Controls where according to Clem Marrese, the “[work instructions] being consistent in their format from assembly line to assembly line has aided us in [the] cross training program by having the operators to quickly become oriented to their new assignment. This has reduced the amount of time needed for the operator to be certified for that line.” In Nashville, where the corporate rollout began, Sequence is also making an early impact. According to Hansen, “Hayward Nashville’s assembly line can have Takt Time changes three or more times a year. Previously, changing the Standard Work was labor intensive. With Sequence Software, the time involved to make the necessary process step changes and re-posting on the assembly line has been cut from days to hours.” Lucas added, “Hayward has a long and successful history of applying lean principles to their manufacturing environment. We are very excited to be working closely with them to continue to increase efficiency and decrease waste on the shop floor.”
