4.9.2010 FFD Announces the Release of Sequence 2.5.50

4.9.2010 Knoxville, TN – Dr. Jack Hay, Vice President of Business Development, announced today that FFD has released V2.5.50 of Sequence Enterprise and has begun the process of upgrading its current customer base to this new version. As with all previous releases, V2.5.50 received enhancements in both functionality and performance.

From a functionality standpoint, the integration of instructions in Sequence Enterprise with Work Order information from ERP saw continued improvements in managing build to order and custom configurations. According to Dr. Hay, “Highly regulated companies in the military, aerospace and homeland security verticals continue to push the boundaries of the integration as they use Sequence for their AS9100 reporting requirements. This release just takes them further down the road with respect to managing work instructions associated with specific work orders and customer orders.” A second focus with V2.5.50 is improvement in the both the WinSequence and WebSequence graphical user interfaces (GUIs). According to Dr. Hay, “Continuing to increase the overall functionality while at the same time making the user interface easier to work with and navigate was one of the specific goals of this release.” As part of V2.5.50, both the WinSequence text and media editors were given enhanced functionality to increase the effectiveness of the end-user instructions.

From a performance standpoint, particular attention was given to streamlining processes related to storage, retrieval, organization and maintenance of information. Sequence designers continued to improve the efficiency of both the storage and retrieval of information to maximize performance and minimize access times for information. According to Dr. Hay, “As the amount of information our customers manage within Sequence increases, the tasks of retrieval and presentation of information become increasingly time critical - both in the WinSequence authoring application and the WebSequence deployment interface. Our development team worked very hard to make these tasks as efficient as possible and was able to significantly decrease access time for both engineering and the shop floor.” In addition to speed issues, several enhancements were made in how information is organized and located on the graphical instruction tree. According to Hay, “As the number of collaborating authors continues to increase, it was important to give them easier access to information through enhanced folder / directory capabilities and search functions. It is now easier than ever to have the information you need right at your fingertips.”
