Knoxville, TN – Dr. Jack Hay, Vice President of Business Development for FFD, announced today that FFD has released V2.5 of Sequence and has begun the progress of upgrading its current customer base to this new version. According to Dr. Hay, “This release has been some time in coming and we are pleased with the advances in features and functionality, particularly those targeted at highly regulated industries such as Military and Aerospace.”
As has been the case since the first release of Sequence, nearly all of the enhancements have come at the suggestion of current customers. This release also benefitted greatly from the partnership between FFD and Sechan Electronics, a leading Military & Aerospace Contract Manufacturing company, to enhance and refine the functionality of Sequence for this industry.
While the migration to more up-to-date platform tools, including a 64 bit installation option, will be transparent to our end-users, the refined functionality will not go unnoticed. The two main areas of focus in V2.5 are performance on the shop floor and traceability and robustness for handling custom and highly configured products. According to Dr. Hay, “As the transaction density and frequency increases in a paperless environment, database tasks have to become more efficient. This release has seen nearly a 5x improvement in access time in some areas.” The second focal point for this release was shoring up the work instruction traceability requirements for the military and aerospace sector where many orders are highly configured with any number of options or have some level of custom work. “We have added a lot of flexibility to this release regarding how Sequence interacts with our customers’ MRP/ERP system to generate work order specific instructions. V2.5 focuses specifically on configured work instructions for highly configured products as well as work instructions tied to custom orders for standard products. We think our customers will see a real benefit of extending the capabilities of their MRP/ERP systems in handling these complex build situations to the shop floor.”
FFD, Inc. is a software company developing, marketing and implementing Sequence Software, a unique package for developing manufacturing work instructions for paper and/or electronic publishing to network users. Work instructions are a critical part of the two fastest growing application areas in manufacturing; Product Lifecycle Management and Manufacturing Execution Systems. Sequence addresses the key challenges manufacturing companies face in authoring/ capturing knowledge, managing and revising that information, and disseminating the correct versions of the information to the manufacturing floor. The added capability of integration to ERP, MRP, PLM and MES solutions further provides a collaboration of data and functional departments to work toward ‘design to manufacture’ and ‘manufacture to quality’ methods, as well as supporting Lean, Six Sigma, and ISO program requirements.
